Are you a graduate student who is employed by Queen’s University? Welcome! You are part of a union called PSAC Local 901!
The Local is the union of Graduate Teaching Assistants, Teaching Fellows, Research Assistants, and Postdoctoral Scholars at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. We are a non-profit, autonomous body which strives to protect, maintain, and advance the interests of our membership.
PSAC 901 represents more than 2,000 members who are employed as graduate student workers at Queen’s University.
This membership is organized into two bargaining units: those working as Teaching Assistants (TAs), Teaching Fellows (TFs), and Research Assistants (RAs) make up Unit 1, while Unit 2 membership is comprised of Postdoctoral Scholars (PDS).
As a directly-chartered Local of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), we organize and engage in collective bargaining with the employer on behalf of both units.
Each unit has a Collective Agreement which outlines the terms and working conditions, rates of pay, and means of dispute resolution members are entitled to regarding their employment at Queen’s University (among other protections).
We advocate for better working conditions for our membership, and workplaces which are free of harassment and discrimination. We are committed to equity and social justice within our organization, Queen’s University, and the broader community.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your work as graduate student employees – we are here for you!
