Stewards & Stewards Council

Department Stewards represent members across various departments and faculties at Queen’s University. Stewards are elected at the departmental level, and serve as a point of contact and advocate for members who will understand the context of their particular department or program. They act as a link between the broader membership and the Executive. Stewards are a central part of our union’s capacity to represent the membership.

Department Stewards meet monthly at Stewards’ Council to share information and concerns from their departments, organize and plan events, and develop strategies to keep the membership informed about issues related to their workplace and the Local.

All members are invited to attend Stewards’ Council and encouraged to participate in discussion, but only Stewards can vote on motions put forward at Stewards’ Council.

To See Stewards by Department – -don’t see anyone listed in your department? There are four Co-Chief Stewards who will act in this role for you! But also – why not consider becoming the Steward for your department? Stewards are paid an annual honorarium and have access to limited funding for organizing self-led initiatives in their department. If you are interested in becoming a Steward, contact the Co-Chief Stewards:
