Professional Development Bursary

The Professional Development Bursary has been developed to provide financial support to individuals that have sought out opportunities related to pedagogical training, research skills and academic/professional development.

We have created this bursary in recognition of the consistent failure of graduate student worker funding packages to fully cover costs associated with professional development. This bursary is intended to support members who have exhausted other funding options, including departmental and supervisor support, and still have costs which were not covered. Applications for the 2024/25 academic year for events that occurred between May 1, 2024-April 30, 2025. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis so members are encouraged to apply early.

Professional development activities include but are not limited to: conferences, training workshops, and similar disciplinary-specific programming that contributes to the professional development of the member, as a graduate student who is simultaneously employed by Queen’s University. Applicants will be asked to briefly indicate in their application how this contributed to your pedagogical training, research skills or academic/professional development.
