Come to Stewards’ Council
- Are you looking for ways to get more involved with your Union? Come out to one of our monthly Stewards’ Council meetings! Stewards’ Council is the place for members to share information and concerns from their departments, to organize and plan events, and to get informed about issues related to their workplace and the Local. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend and actively participate in discussions at Stewards’ Council (though only Stewards and Executive Officers can vote). Come on out and meet the folks that make your Union work for you!
Become a Steward
- Are you interested in becoming a Departmental Steward ? Each department is eligible to have one, or more, Steward(s). Stewards are elected at the departmental level, and serve as a point of contact and advocate for members who will understand the context of their particular department or program. They also act as a link between the broader membership and the Executive by reporting on activities and issues at Stewards Council . Stewards are a central part of our Union’s capacity to represent the membership. If you are interested in becoming a Steward, contact the Co-Chief Stewards: chiefsteward1.psac901@gmail.com and chiefsteward2.psac901@gmail.com

- Your Union has several Standing Committees and Working Groups organized around a variety of topics that are actively seeking more participants, like you! These committees and groups are open to any member in good standing and are often composed of a mix of Executive Officers, Departmental Stewards, and rank-and-file members. Standing committees are always active, as mandated in our Union’s Bylaws [link to bylaws], while others, such as Bargaining and Mobilization committees, are struck at certain times on an ad-hoc basis. See the full list of committees and working groups and contact the respective chairperson if you are interested in attending or learning more about a particular committee or group.
Health and safety representatives
- Are you concerned about occupational health and safety in your department? Are you passionate about issues related to the safety of your workplace and the health of you and your colleagues? Consider becoming a Joint Health and Safety Committee Representative for your department on behalf of your Union!
