Childcare Benefit Plan

Childcare Benefit Plan

The Childcare Benefit Plan is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible employees for child care expenses incurred while caring for their eligible children.

To qualify for reimbursement, employees must:

  1. Have an appointment at the time the child care expense was incurred.
  2. Have at least one eligible child under the age of seven for daycare expenses or under the age of twelve for other eligible child care expenses.
  3. An eligible child includes natural, step, foster, ward, common-law, or adopted children under the specified age limit(s).

Eligible Child Care Expenses:

The plan generally covers expenses related to providing childcare services for eligible children, including daycare, before and after school care, professional activity days, and summer camps.

Reimbursement Process:

  • Employees can submit reimbursement applications once per benefit year by February 1 following the year in which the childcare expenses were incurred.
  • The annual fund for the plan is $55,000.00, and the maximum reimbursement per child per year is $2,000.00, subject to certain restrictions.
  • Reimbursements are limited to 50% of the amount paid by the employee for eligible child care expenses each year.
  • If eligible claims exceed the available fund in a benefit year, reimbursements will be prorated based on the number of claims.
