Intellectual Property Rights

For TAs and TFs:

  • TAs and TFs keep the copyright for their own materials like lecture notes or course materials that they create.
  • Unless otherwise agreed upon in advance, the University may use some or all of the materials for teaching and distributing to students.
  • TAs and TFs should receive recognition for their contributions to course materials or other work that they help develop.

For GRAs:

  • Materials created by RAs as part of their job belong to the Employer, unless otherwise specified.
  • RAs may receive recognition for their contributions to the materials, but this will not affect the ownership of the intellectual property.
  • This does not apply to other materials created by RAs outside of their role as an RA.
