Unit 1 Collective Agreement Ratification

A tentative agreement was reached on December 20th, 2017 on behalf of Teaching Assistants & Teaching Fellows at Queen’s University. Members need to vote on the new agreement by attending a short 10-minute presentation and voting at one of the following sessions:

Thursday January 25
Noon (Sutherland Room, John Deutsch University Centre – 87 Union St)
3pm (Sutherland Room, John Deutsch University Centre – 87 Union St)
5:30pm (Room 107, Kinesiology Building – 28 Division St)

Friday January 26
10am (Room A240, Duncan McArthur Hall West Campus – 511 Union St)
Noon (Room 107, Kinesiology Building – 28 Division St)

Some highlights from the agreement include:

  • 1% wage increase from May 1st, 2017
  • 1.25% wage increase as of May 1st, 2018
  • 1.5% wage increase as of May 1st, 2019
  • 1.75% wage increase as of May 1st, 2020
  • 3% pay in lieu of Benefits
  • Retroactive pay and benefits to all employed on September 30th, 2017
  • All university-wide mandated training will be paid in addition to the TA & TF contract (approx. 5 hours)
  • New protection for whistleblowing TAs and TFs
  • 9 hours of paid sick leave
  • No Discrimination/No Harassment/No Violence Article

Your Bargaining Team (Craig Berggold, Alexander Rey, Stephanie McKnight, and Jawara Gairey), unanimously recommends the acceptance of the tentative Agreement.
