As you may know, postdocs at Queen’s University are part of the same benefit plan as other full-time employees at Queen’s, including faculty and staff. Since January 2016, the University has been conducting a review of the existing plan design, with the intention of improving benefits without increasing costs. PSAC 901 has participated in this process, alongside the other unions on campus.
The review has now yielded a set of proposed changes to the benefit plan design. A summary of the proposed changes is 2018-07-05_Summary of Proposed Changes.
If approved, these changes would likely not take effect until July 1, 2019.
The PSAC 901 Executive Committee must either approve or reject these changes by July 25, 2018. Our bylaws do not require that all members vote on this matter, but we want to hear as many voices as possible before making the final decision.
To hear more and share your opinion, please come to a meeting on Thursday, July 19, at 12 PM in Robert Sutherland 554.
If you are out of town and unable to attend this meeting, please send questions and opinions via email to [email protected].
