THE PSAC LOCAL 901 UNIT 1 BARGAINING TEAM REPORT

THE EMPLOYER STRIKES OUR DEMANDS 

 

Greetings Teaching Assistants and Teaching Fellows,

 

On Monday, October 16th, Queen’s University, the employer, rejected our proposals with literal strikethroughs.

 

The employer continues to treat TAs & TFs as second-class employees who must subsidize their own health & dental plan, work with no childcare benefits, and work unpaid overtime to meet the employers training obligations. Most Queen’s employees have these rights, we do not! We demand equity and fairness.

 

You must come out and hear from your bargaining team and new plans for member mobilization. See you on Wednesday, October 25th at 6pm in Robert Sutherland Hall, Room 554, for this very important meeting.

 

For fairness and equity, we want:

 

  1. Tuition support/ subsidy/ fairness
  2. Increase TA/TF wages
  3. A better health and dental plan
  4. New childcare benefits
  5. Paid training in addition to the contract hours
  6. No claw-back of TA/TF contracts included in funding packages when members receive external scholarships

 

You can expect a communiqué from us by email, web bulletin and social media after every meeting with the employer.
