400 workers at Ontario Lottery & Gaming (OLG) Corp. at Woodbine Racetrack, members of Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Local 533 have been locked-out by the employer since July 14th, only days after they reached a tentative agreement. The membership rejected the offer and OLG rejected a revised offer. Now, the corporation has locked-out the workers and is bringing in replacement workers to do the members’ jobs. Shame!

OLG Woodbine is the most profitable facility in Ontario, with profits of half a billion dollars last year alone, yet the members struggle to make ends meet. The main sticking point is that 60% of the workers remain classified as part time, some for as long as 10 years of working full time hours. There is no work-life balance and hours are highly precarious, where members might go from seven shifts in one week to one shift the following week. Workers are not entitled to paid sick days. Locked-out workers want bargaining to resume.

PSAC Kingston is calling on our members to join on the solidarity caravan bus that will be traveling to Toronto on Saturday July 29. The bus will leave Kingston at 8am and return before 9pm.

Reserve a seat on the chartered bus by contacting Chris Snooks (613-985-0051), or email: snooks.a.c@gmail.com PSAC members will receive a lunch and dinner per diem.
