THE PSAC LOCAL 901 UNIT 1 BARGAINING TEAM REPORT
NEGOTIATIONS WITH QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY EMPLOYER BEGIN!
Greetings Teaching Assistants and Teaching Fellows,
On Monday, June 6th and Tuesday, June 7th, your PSAC Local 901 Unit 1 Bargaining Team met with your Employer. With PSAC Negotiator Jawara Gairey at the table, we presented several non-monetary proposals and housekeeping items from our expired Collective Agreement.
The Queen’s University Employer Bargaining Team is:
Kim McAuley (Associate Dean, School of Graduate Studies)
Lynn O’Malley (Department Manager, Chemical Engineering)
Lynda Jessup (Associate Dean, Faculty of Arts and Sciences)
Dan McKewon (Associate Vice-Principle of Faculty of Relations)
Your Bargaining Team consists of Alexander Rey (Civil Engineering), Stéfy McKnight (Cultural Studies) and Craig Berggold (President, PSAC Local 901).
Progress was made signing off on the following housekeeping items:
Article 3: Definitions
Article 5: Union Representation and Activities
Article 9: Joint Union Management Committee
Article 13: Probationary Employees
Article 19: Holidays and Vacation Pay
Article 20: No Discrimination/No Harassment/No Violence
We have also signed a new article called “Safe Disclosure” that ensures TA/TF whistleblowing protection. Please remember that any changes to the Collective Agreement are subject to ratification by the membership’s vote. These signed articles will only take effect once the Collective Agreement has been completely ratified at the end of the negotiation process.
