Postdoctoral Scholars (Public Service Alliance of Canada local 901, Unit 2) ratified a new collective agreement with Queen’s University that will expire on June 30, 2020. Negotiations and conciliation over ten months led to progressive gains: including new childcare benefits and new access to the Queen’s Family Health Team for Postdocs and their families and a raise in salary.
Postdocs now qualify for childcare benefits of up to $2000/year/child through Queen’s University, similar to the benefits available to faculty. The new minimum salary for this precarious group of Postdocs will be raised from $32,174 to $34,900 by June 30, 2019.
This is the first contract in Canada to include guaranteed access to the Queen’s Family Health Team (QFHT) for Postdocs and their dependents.
