Dear PSAC local 901 Members,
In collaboration with the Equity Office at Queen’s University, we are proud to announce that in the 2016-2017 academic year, members of PSAC local 901 will be included within the I COUNT Queen’s Equity Census. The information which you provide within this census will provide a fuller perspective on the representation and distribution of designated groups with the Queen’s University community.
Our inclusion within the I COUNT Queen’s Equity Census is in compliance with section 25.02 for Unit 1 members (Teaching Assistants and Teaching Fellows) and section 8.06 for Unit 2 members (Postdoctoral Scholars) of the collective agreement which is outlined below:
25.02 (PSAC 901 Unit 1/Queen’s University Collective Agreement)
The Employer shall provide information identifying, by Faculty (except as noted below), the number of Employees within the Bargaining Unit in each of the equity groups at Queen’s. In accordance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, such data will not be provided in cases where individuals could be identified.
8.06 (PSAC 901 Unit 2/Queen’s University Collective Agreement)
If provided by the Employee, the Employer shall provide information identifying, by Faculty, the number of Employees within the Bargaining Unit who have self-identified as belonging to each of the equity groups at Queen’s. The Employer shall provide this information for the first time no later than February 15, 2014, and will thereafter provide this information once per calendar year at the request of the Union. In accordance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, such data will not be provided in cases where individuals could be identified.
The inclusion of PSAC local 901 members within the I COUNT Queen’s Equity Census is a significant accomplishment which gives further validation and recognition to our work as employees within the University as teaching assistants, teaching fellows and postdoctoral scholars/fellows. I as an equity officer of PSAC 901 on behalf of our union strongly encourage all the members to participate in the census, which will only take a few minutes of your time. In order to have PSAC local 901 members represented within the census data on employees at Queen’s University, it is imperative that we all take the time to complete the census.
